BrainTree is a ERA-NET Neuron project conducted in Germany, Switzerland and Taiwan. It delves into the ethical considerations of Brain Age prediction. Modern neuroscience using machine learning and brain MRI scans empowers us to assess the biological age of a brain, potentially revealing early signs of disease. While brain age prediction holds immense promise for medical diagnosis and prognosis, it also raises significant ethical questions. We aim to illuminate the potential benefits and risks of this emerging technology, while also exploring the ethical frameworks necessary for its responsible application in clinical settings.

From January 9 to 10, 2026, we held our annual project meeting, this time in Taiwan. We had a very productive discussion about the current status of our research and our future projects. We look forward to another exciting year.

On November 4, 2025, the coordination team presented the current status of our project work in Berlin at the ELSA-Statusseminar.
